Jamaica News, April 6, 2018 – 22 St James Murders Recorded
St James, Jamaica (McKoy’s News) – Despite a State of Public Emergency being imposed on the parish of St James by Prime Minister Andrew Holness earlier this year, murders still continue to take place all over the parish of St James.
A total of 22 persons have been reported murdered in the parish since the start of the year and of that figure, a total of 16 of these persons were murdered under the State of Emergency.
On a day to day basis, large contingency of joint military can be seen patrolling throughout the police divisions, but still the gunmen continue on their rampage.
The most recent daring murder which took place in Montego Bay is that of an elderly taxi operator and retired police officer. The elderly man was shot and killed by gunmen in broad daylight at Westgreen last weekend.
With just three months gone by since the start of the year, residents are now concern with the figure.
A number of residents told our news team on Friday morning that, if this continues the parish will easily reach 100 murders at year’s end and this is way too many deaths under a State of Public Emergency.
