Police arrested 21 persons, including two women, for not wearing masks in public, in Clarendon Thursday, September 10. They also arrested five men arrested for illegal gaming during a special operation in the parish.
Reports are that between the hours of 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m., a joint police/military operation was conducted in several communities in Clarendon. During the operation, 21 persons found to be in breach of the stipulation, to wear masks in public places were taken into custody. Five men who were engaged in illegal gaming activities were also arrested.
The identities of the persons detained are being withheld pending further investigations.
There have been some questions as to whether people can be successfully prosecuted, under the existing Orders, for not wearing masks.
