2000 Pounds of Ganja Seized in St James

Jamaica Crime News, St James: The Narcotics Police in St Elizabeth, seized 2000 pounds of ganja in Barbary Hall district in the parish on Monday, January 28.

One man was arrested in connection with the seizure and is presently waiting to be charged.

Reports by the police are that about 7:00 p.m., a team attached to the Narcotics Division were on operation in the Barbary Hall area when they saw a coaster bus traveling along the main road.

The driver of the vehicle was signaled to stop and following a search of the bus, the lawmen seized over 38-knitted bags containing compressed ganja. The driver was taken into custody and the drug which was estimated in the regions of Jamaican $80-million seized.
