20 Million Dollar Relief Fund For Montego Bay

Montego Bay, Jamaica (McKoy’s News) – 20 Million Dollar Relief Fund: Prime Minister of Jamaica, the Honorable Andrew Holness and Minister of Local Government, Desmond McKenzie, announced on Thursday afternoon that they have allocated a $20 million relief fund to assist with the flooding disaster that affected Montego Bay on Wednesday afternoon.

The Prime Minister stated that he is overjoyed to know that there were no casualties but on the other hand the infrastructure damages were great.

He additionally expressed that, he must commend the St James Municipal Corporation for their swift actions in addressing the blockage at several flooded area, however, it is an indication that the drainage systems need to be properly maintained.

The Mayor of Montego Bay, Homer Davis, declared that as early as Sunday, Montego Bay will be returned to its normal daily activities.

Minister of Local Government Desmond McKenzie, said the relief fund is made available effectively and he will be returning to St James on Tuesday to do an overview of the cleanup process.
