Latest Jamaica News, Kingston (McKoy’s News): Eighteen patients had to be evacuated from a medical ward at the Universal Hospital of the West Indies, following an electrical fire which started at a section of the institution on Wednesday morning, November 13.
Luckily no one was hurt during the incident.
Reports are that on Wednesday morning, fire was seen coming from a section of the hospital in the vicinity of Ward-4, which led to the patients and medical staff being quickly evacuated.
The fire department was called in and the firemen acted swiftly in containing the blaze.
Investigators from the fire department are presently trying to determine how the fire actually started.
