Jamaica News, St Catherine: Eighteen persons, two of whom are in critical, were rushed to hospital on Monday morning, April 8, following their involvements in a motor vehicle accident, which occurred along a section of Dyke Road, in St. Catherine.
Reports by the Portmore police are that about 8:30 a.m. on Monday, the driver of a white Toyota Hiace minibus, was transporting passengers towards Kingston.
On reaching a section of the roadway, in the vicinity of Passage Fort Drive and Dyke Road, the driver lost control of the vehicle which crashed into a white motor car, which was being driven by a female driver and travelling in the opposite direction.
The impact of the crash resulted in the minibus overturning, causing injuries to 17 persons, including the driver. The female driver who received head and body injuries, was pinned in the vehicle, and it took the firefighters and other motorists, over an hour, to get her free.
The female along with the occupants of the bus were transported to hospital, where they were admitted in serious condition.
