Jamaica Crime News: Since the start of the month of January, a total of seventeen (17) persons have been reported murdered across all four western parishes of Jamaica.
The police have also reported one fatal shooting in Western Jamaica, since the start of 2019.
The latest murders took place on Friday, January 25 – Saturday, January 26. The victims have been identified as, 29-year-old Matthew Whittingham, laborer of Buck Toe Lane in Salt Spring, St James, 63-year-old Patrick Weise, businessman of West End, Negril in Westmoreland and a Pig Farmer known only as “Rasta” of a Retirement address in Granville, St James.
Whittingham was shot and killed by three armed men while at a Beauty Salon in Montego Bay on Saturday night, while the decomposing body of “Rasta”, was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds at his home in Retirement on Friday.
Weise and two of his employees were standing along the West End main road in Negril, Westmoreland, when three men traveling in a Toyota Corolla motor car drove to the area and shot him multiple times to death.
A total of seven murders have been recorded in the parish of St James, five have been recorded in Hanover, five in Westmoreland and one in the parish of Trelawny.
A total of 320 persons were murdered in all four western parishes at the end of 2018.
