16-year-old Vere Tech Student Murdered, Killer Remanded

Jamaica Crime News, St Elizabeth: 25-year-old Rashoy Brown of Clarendon, who was recently charged for the murder of 16-year-old,  Vere Tech student, Bernadine Anderson,  was remanded into custody when he appeared before the Santa Cruz Parish  Court on Wednesday,  August 22.

Brown who reportedly stabbed the 16-year-old teenage girl to death in Santa Cruz, St Elizabeth on Tuesday night, August 14, was remanded into custody until August 27.

Reports by the St Elizabeth police are that Bernadine, who hails from Corn Peace district in Hayes, Clarendon was spending time at a friend’s home in Big Yard, Santa Cruz.

It is further alleged that, Brown who was involved in an “on and off” relationship, discovered that the 16-year-old had gone to St Elizabeth and trailed her to the parish.
Approximately 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 14, Bernadine was at her friend’s home in Santa Cruz, when she went outside.

Minutes later,  the friend overheard her screaming for help and ran outside, and saw Bernadine lying on the ground and a man standing over her with a knife in his hand.

The armed man chased after her , but she ran back inside the house and managed to escape.

She then raised an alarm and the police were summoned to the location.  Upon arrival , Bernadine was discovered lying outside the house in a pool of blood,  with multiple stab wounds to her upper body.

She was rushed to hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Following a series of investigation, Brown was taken into custody and charges.
