Jamaica Crime News, St James: 16-year-old, Jayshenel Gordon, a female student who attended the Herbert Morrison High School in Montego Bay, St James and her mother, were murdered at their home in the Rosemount community on Sunday morning, September 23.
Inspector Francis who is in Charge of the Mount Salem Police Station visited the murder scene and appealed to community members that whenever residents notice anything irregular taking place in their communities, they should let the police know.
He pointed out that such a gruesome killing should not have taken place and residents need to start getting more involved whenever they see domestic disputes taking place.
The 16-year-old, fourth form student and her mother Dionne Smith, 45-year-old service station supervisor of Rosemount, were brutally slaughtered by her step-father, Fabian Lyewsang, security guard, who fled the scene immediately after committing the gruesome act.
He later committed suicide by driving the victim’s Nissan Tida motor car into a section of the Rio Cobre River in St Catherine.
Reports by the police are that about 2:15 a.m. on Sunday, September 23, Lyewsang and his common-law wife got involved in an argument at the family house in Rosemount.
It is further reported that the accused used a knife to stab his common-law wife multiple times to her upper body, then slit her throat.
He then went upstairs and slit Jayshenele’s throat while in her sleep.
He then took his small son from the house and drove away in her vehicle. He later drove the vehicle from the community to St Catherine, where he drove the vehicle into the Rio Cobre River killing himself.
The brutal killings have left dozen of community members in the Rosemount community in shock.
