Jamaica News, March 3, 2017 – Cambridge St James Taxi Driver Murder
St James, Jamaica (Mckoy’s News) – Police detectives have charged a 16-year-old boy of Retrieve community in the Cambridge district, St. James, with the murder of taxi driver Lascelles Warlock, 53, on December 29, 2017.
The police reported that about 3:00 pm on Friday, Warlock was transporting two passengers from Cambridge to Retrieve, in the parish of St James. On reaching a section of the roadway which is laden with potholes, Warlock came to a halt to venture through when one man armed with a rifle jumped from the bushes and he was forced to stop.
The gunman then robbed the driver and the occupants of cash, jewellery and other valuables. While in the process of leaving the scene, the gunman fired one shot hitting Warlock in the regions of his head, killing him on the spot. The passengers escaped without injury.
According to police, the 16-year-old was arrested on Monday, January 29 after a gunfire confrontation between gunmen and Police in Kilmarnock, St. Elizabeth, where one man was fatally shot during the shootout.
A Uzi sub machine gun with two magazines containing thirty-five 9mm rounds of ammunition was seized at the scene.
The teen was charged on Thursday, March 1 after a positively identification parade.
