Jamaica Crime News, Trelawny: Since the start of the year, a total of 16 persons have been murdered throughout the parish of Trelawny and the police in the parish say they have now stepped up security presence throughout several communities.
Over the past years, the parish of Trelawny continues to maintain the lowest murder rate in Area One, and also continues to record the lowest murder count in Western Jamaica.
One investigator told our news team that, he considers 16 murders in the eight month of the year to be way too many.
The latest person to be killed by gunmen has been identified as Raymond Robinson, 34 year old Gardner of Duansvale district also in the parish.
Robinson was shot to death by unknown assailants between the hours of 1:00 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. on Saturday morning, August 11.
Reports by the police Trelawny police are that about 1:00 a.m. on Saturday, Robinson was at home with his girlfriend in Duansvale when an argument developed between them.
It is further reported that Robinson walked out of the house into the dark of the night. The female made several attempts to contact him by cell phone but they all went unanswered.
About 6:30 a.m. that same morning, residents living in Duanvale stumbled upon Gardner’s body in bushes in the area and alerted the police.
Upon arrival of the lawmen, Robinson was discovered lying in a pool of blood, with multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body.
The body was removed from the scene and transported to the Falmouth hospital where he was pronounced dead.
