The police stated that family members turned up at the Spanish Town Police station on Sunday, in the company of the missing 13-year-old. One officer pointed out that finding the child made their job a lot easier.

The community of Rosemount and the school population at the Herbert Morrison Technical High School, was sent into shock following the murder of 16-year-old student Jayshenel Gordon, and her mother Deon Smith, 45-year-old service station supervisor. They were slaughtered by her mother’s boyfriend, Fabian Lyewsang, security guard, who reportedly acted out of jealousy.

Reports by the police are that about 2:15 a.m. on Sunday, September 23, Lyewsang and his common-law wife got involved in an argument at the family house in Rosemount.

It is further reported that the Lyewsang used a knife to stab his common-law wife multiple times to her upper body, he then slit her throat.

In a jealous rage, Lyewsang then went upstairs and slit Jayshenele’s throat, while she was still in her sleep.

He then took his 13-year-old son, Lyewchen from the house and drove away in Smith’s Nissan Tida motor car.

Lyewsang drove the vehicle to St Catherine and committed suicide by driving the vehicle into the Rio Cobre River.
