Jamaica Crime News, St James: A 13-year-old female student of Green Pond High School in Montego Bay, St James was shot and killed by a teenage boy, while he was playing with an illegal firearm in her community on Saturday morning.
A 19-year old teenage boy is presently being sought in connection with the shooting.
She has been identified as Tamara Hoffenden, who resided at a section of Pitfour community in the Granville area, known as Capture Land.
Reports by the Granville police are that about 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, Tamara and another teenage girl were at her neighbor’s house in Capture Land when the 19-year-old accused walked inside the room with an illegal firearm.
It is further reported that the teenage boy, pulled out the firearm and started to play with the weapon.
It is further stated that he pointed it in Tamara’s direction and the weapon accidentally went off, shooting the teenage girl to her upper body.
An alarm was raised and the 19-year-old accused ran from the house. The police were then summoned and upon arrival, the wounded teenager was transported to the Cornwall Regional Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
