11-Year-Old Girl Shot in the Head by Gunmen Comes Out of Coma, One Suspect Taken into Custody

Latest Jamaica News, St Andrew (McKoy’s News): The St Andrew police have confirmed that one man has been taken into custody in connection with the shooting and wounding of an 11-year-old female student, who was shot along a section of Waltham Park Road in the parish on Friday afternoon, September 6.

The police say the suspect is currently being interrogated, in connection with the shooting of the infant.

In the meanwhile, Mckoy’s News learnt that the child came out of coma on Wednesday, and is presently still in serious but stable condition at the Bustamante hospital for children.

Reports by the police are that on Friday afternoon, the child was returning home from school when the incident occurred.

On reaching a section of Waltham Park Road, a group of armed men engaged each other in a gunbattle when a stray bullet caught the student in the regions of her mouth, and face.

She was rushed to hospital, where she has been admitted in intensive care.
