Latest Jamaica News, St Andrew: The St Andrew police have now launched an investigation surrounding a fire which resulted in the death of a one-year-old infant, at Bay Farm Road, in the parish on Tuesday evening, July 9.

Investigators say they are now also pursuing the avenues of child neglect, against the parent of the one-year-old boy, Neymar Facey.

Reports are that about 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, residents raised an alarm after the fire was seen coming from a five apartment concrete structured dwelling house, occupied by the child’s parent.

The fire department and the police were summoned, and upon arrival of the firemen, the blaze was put out after over several hours.

A search of the burnt dwelling later led to the discovery of the charred remains of the infant, which was discovered on a bed.

The infant was pronounced dead at hospital.
