Jamaica News, Kingston: One woman is dead and four other persons injured, following a six-vehicle collision which occurred along a section of the Mandela Highway in Kingston on Sunday afternoon, April 29.
The deceased has been identified as 34-year-old Marlene James of Daisy Close in Old Braeton, Portmore, St Catherine.
Reports by the Duhaney Park police are that shortly after 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, James was a passenger in a Black Toyota Corolla motor car which was traveling towards Six Miles.
The driver of the vehicle was in the process of overtaking a line of traffic when he collided with a garbage truck. The impact then sent the Corolla crashing into two other motor cars. All three vehicles spun and ended up across the median and collided with two other vehicles.
James along with two other females and two males sustained head and body injuries. They were rushed to hospital where James was pronounced dead and the other victims admitted in serious condition.
All the vehicles received extensive damages.
