St. Andrew, Jamaica (McKoy’s News)- Woman Succumbs To Chemical Attack While 8-Year-Old Daughter Remains Critical: Thirty year-old Teri Ann Morris of St Andrew, who was a cashier at the Megamart Food store, was doused with a chemical substance by her estranged lover while asleep nearly three weeks ago.
Ms Morris died of her injuries in the Kingston Public Hospital on Wednesday. However, her eight-year-old daughter, who was also injured in the attack, remains hospitalized.
The accused, 39-yr-old Richard Salmon remains behind bars. Mr. Salmon was remanded when he appeared before the St. Andrew Parish Court on a charge of wounding on Tuesday. However, Superintendent Arthur Brown, head of the St. Andrew South Police Division said that Mr. Salmon will now be charged for murder.
Reports are that on Thursday September 21, 2017 both Ms. Morris and her daughter was at their home in Greenwich Farm, St. Andrew sleeping, when Mr. Salmon entered the dwelling and threw the acid on her, which caused severe burns to her entire body.
The little girl, who is also Mr. Salmon’s daughter, was injured when the chemical substance splashed on her and is now in serious condition.
Mr. Salmon, who is a resident of Seaview Gardens, was captured in St. Elizabeth a few days later. He is scheduled to return to court on October 17. Investigators speculated that Mr Salmon carried out the attack after Ms. Morris decided to end their relationship.
