Jamaican Court: Man Dealing Cocaine Worth $90M May Serve No Time

St Catherine, Jamaica – Man Dealing Cocaine Worth $90M: A  St Catherine man who was charged earlier this year with possession of over JMD$90 million worth of cocaine that was confiscated from his home was sentenced on Monday to terms, which many are calling outrageous.

Last Monday December, 18,  37-year-old Michael Abrahams of a Caribbean Estate address in St Catherine plead guilty before the St Catherine Parish Court, to breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Acts. In exchange for his guilty plea he received a fine of JMD $500,000 or the serving 6 months in prison.

On his second count of the crime Abrahams struck a plea deal with the court for Dealing in Cocaine and received 9 months hard labour, which will be suspended for two years.

He was also granted bail for JMD $300,00.

Abrahams as arrested during a raid carried out by the Narcotics Division at his Caribbean Estate home on Friday, July 7.  According to police, during a search of his home detectives uncovered large quantities  of cocaine weighing about 70 kilograms.

Abrahams has another court date before the Home Circuit Court set for January 12, 2018, to answer charges of the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA).
