St. Ann Man Gets Life Sentence for 2011 Discovery Bay Couple Murder

St. Ann, Jamaica (McN) – The man charged with the 2011 Discovery Bay murder of truck driver, and his wife who was a former lecturer at a St Ann-based school was sentenced on Tuesday.

Steve Stewart 25-year-old, sentenced to life in prison for the 2011 murder of a Discovery Bay man and his wife, a former lecturer at a St Ann-based school, on August 23, 2011  .

His sentencing includes eligibility for parole after serving 17 years in prison.

Fifty-three-year- old Norma-Lyn Hall, a senior lecturer and her husband, 57-year-old Neville Hall, a trucker were murdered during a break-in and robbery at their Queen Crescent home, near the Queens Highway in Discovery Bay, St Ann.

Their bodies were discovered the next day in bushes in Lake Side, a few miles away from Queens Highway.

Postmortem reports revealed, Mr. Hall died from blunt force injury to the head, Mrs. Hall was killed from strangulation.

Convicted Killer Wept At Sentencing

Stewart who pleaded guilty on Tuesday (yesterday) to two counts of murder, from the August 23, 2011 incident, cried bitterly and shook nervously at his sentencing hearing yesterday.

Testimony at the hearing, linked another accused man, Jowayne Alexander as influencing Stewart to take part in the robbery of the Hall’s home.

Trial of co-accused alleged murder, Jowayne Alexander who pleaded not guilty yesterday to two counts of murder, begins today (Wednesday).
